This proejct was a study of how materiality, furnishings, plants and accessories can transform any space, even a rental apartment. The intent was to create a warm, personal space that was connected with nature. The kitchen and bathroom millwork was updated with new, Donald Judd-inspired, custom plywood fronts. The layering of textural plaster on the walls and collected vintage textiles adds a tactility to each surface. Featuring a growing collection of up-and-coming artisans, such as a Minjae Kim coffee table, Sam Klemmick Bell side chair, and artwork by Taylor Kibby, this home has become a true expression of personality in a compact space.
